Dish Fairy

                                                           Dish Fairy

I want to take this time to tell everyone about this little Dish Fairy that is flying around at night.
About three days ago I was real tired from working in the yard all day.  My wife isn't able to get around very good, so I do all the cooking and cleaning too. So after supper I decided to stack the dirty dishes in the sink and leave them until the next morning.
I thought I would read a chapter or two out of my new book before I turned out the light and went to sleep. I kissed the wife told her goodnight, and she went to sleep right away.
Boy was I surprised when just before I turned out the light, this little Fairy came into the room, said she was the Dish Fairy. Said she had seen how hard I had been working lately and felt sorry for me, and she was going to do the dirty dishes and clean the kitchen for me while I slept. I didn't believe her but she swore she was real.
She said, "Just go to sleep and don't worry about them.
So I thanked her, turned off the light and went to sleep.
The next morning the wife woke me when she got up and turned the light on. It was a beautiful sunny day with the light streaming through the window, and the birds singing.  Remembering what the little Dish Fairy had said I started whistling a happy little tune too.
The wife asked, "Why are you so happy this morning?"
I said, "Nothing! !Nothing! Just looking forward to this beautiful sun shiney day."
No way was I telling  her about the Dish Fairy doing the dishes and cleaning the kitchen. Let her think about all that hard work I had done afer she went to asleep.
I just said, "Im going up to make coffee, come on up and we will have a cup before I fix breakfast. I wanted to see that surprised look on her face when she saw the kitchen. She mumbled something about leaving the light on all night,  when I walked out the door.
Boy was I shocked when I walked through the door. That sneaky little Dish fairy had lied, she hadn't touched a single dish.
No I hadn't been dreaming, and it wasn't that last shot of whiskey I had before I went to sleep. I was that lying little Dish Fairy.
So take warning, no matter what she tells you she ain't going to do the dishes and clean up the kitchen.
